United Way Prenatal Care Survey

Attention Colleagues, please read:

United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County is looking to agency partners and the community to better understand the barriers associated with accessing prenatal care.

Why: In 2015, 34% of expecting moms in Bexar County, ages 20 – 39, received late or no prenatal care.  The 2016 data illustrates that Bexar County had the highest infant mortality rate among all major Texas counties.  Research shows the importance of prenatal care and that early prenatal care can help reduce the risk of pregnancy complications and inform women about important steps they can take to protect their infant and ensure a healthy pregnancy.

The Ask: Please share the survey below with the families you work with.  The short survey is focused on understanding the obstacles to accessing prenatal care and what parents have seen as obstacles for others in their community. The intent of this survey is to better understand what supports are needed and how United Way can create changes to meet the needs of expecting parents. The survey is currently open .  Following the survey, United Way will host a community conversation to further discuss the responses received and offer parents an opportunity to elaborate on their experience.
