In 1999, Texas became the first state to pass legislation for statewide training and credentialing for Promotores de Salud/CHWs (P/CHWs). 20 years later, Texas has since certified over 4,000 P/CHWs.
P/CHWs are non-medical public health workers who connect communities to health care and social service providers. They have the drive and passion, cultural competency, and trust of both the public and providers to help their communities live healthier” (TDSHS,2019).
Please take a moment to celebrate yourself and the CHW in your team, your colleague and your best ally!
