The Health Collaborative is holding a produce box distribution in partnership with Eco Centro tomorrow. I wanted to welcome the CHW network to pick up boxes in bulk and deliver to clients or distribute from your own office. Mental Health for parents and children separated at US-Mexico Border

“Todo Por Mi Familia” is a nationwide initiative that coordinates trauma-focused mental health services for immigrant parents and children who were separated from each other at the US-Mexico border and are now living in the US. Many families that were separated at the border don’t know that they have access to mental health services under the “Zero Tolerance Policy”
All services are free, confidential, and conducted in the families’ preferred language. Please see the flyers for more information. Services are coordinated and provided via local mental health providers.

Outreach Counselor Position Posted-Maximus

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct one-on-one and group outreach presentations to recipients and community members.
  • Present program education and enrollment options to recipients.
  • Present managed care options to recipients and assist them in using their health care and dental plans.
  • Maintain positive relationships with county staff, state agencies, community groups and recipients.
  • Complete direct data entry into designated internal automated systems in accordance with project policies and procedures.
  • Conduct outreach including phone calls, home visits and community presentations in the field in accordance with project policy and procedures (75% of the time).
  • Establish and maintain knowledge of community and participates in community events, health fairs, and other activities as needed.
  • Assist other Outreach Counselors and other team members with management and completion of daily duties.

Northwest Vista College Community Health Grads Provide Support During COVID-19

Congratulations to Dr. Fernando Martinez for his publication in the #RivardReport.

Dr. Martinez is not only the program coordinator and professor at #NorthwestVistaCollege but he is one of the biggest advocates for the CHW profession in San Antonio, Texas, and beyond. He is a mentor to many students and alumni and his continued support to the association has been invaluable. Thank you for what you do for your students and for your continued support as CHW graduates move into their community health worker profession.

  • Position Summary:

This position involves initiating communication with contacts of newly diagnosed COVID-19 patients and providing approved information about Texas’ quarantine procedures, and if appropriate, referring them to testing according to protocol and/or to a COVID-19 social resources. This position will also collect and record information on COVID-19 symptoms into a data management platform.

  • Certification/Skills:

Trained by project manager or principal on techniques to interview, complete questionnaires, and operate equipment.  May need to be bilingual.

  • Minimum Education:

This position will supervise a team of Contact Tracers engaged in case interviews, contact tracing and linkage to services.  This will include conducting case reviews with Contact Tracers and Training Coordinator to ensure comprehensive and high-quality interviews as well as assisting in quality assurance monitoring to ensure that data are appropriately collected and entered into the data system.
